Lacrosse tricks are an easy way to encourage a player to pick up their stick. The challenge of mastering the trick keeps them engaged. And of course, there’s the benefit of showing off the newly mastered trick to earn team props.

it’s all about ball control

Tricks range from simple to nearly impossible, but they all help a player build stick and ball control skills which improve the player’s game. Some, such as fakes (pass/shot), give the player a distinct advantage in play. A good stick fake can throw an opponent off in the opposite direction or at least gain the faker a small time advantage to perform their next move. Think of a fake as merely an extension of the outward motion in cradling. A large part of the fake is the exaggerated motion in the shoulder, arms, and torso.
