SHOPPING FOR A GOOD LACROSSE STICK
Beginner sticks (bottom stick in the photo) make lacrosse more difficult to learn and play. The difference between beginner and advanced sticks is mostly found in the head of the stick. An advanced head design (top stick in photo) has a “deeper” ball position in relation to the shaft centerline. That keeps the ball deeper in the mesh pocket and more secure. This feels better to the player, thus instilling more confidence.
Stick recommendations
Below are recommended models that are great to start with and will serve a player through many seasons. If the player decides to withdraw from lacrosse, the stick still has some value for resale, whereas a used beginner stick is typically not worth anything. Unlike the traditionally strung heads, the mesh heads (preferred) are ready-to-go without adjusting and even improve with use.
